If you keep "losing" the same
10 pounds over and over again, then this is for you!

LIGHTEN UP YOUR BODY --LIGHTEN UP YOUR LIFE
Beyond
diet and exercise--the inner path to lasting change
by Lucia Capacchione, Ph.D, A.T.R., R.E.A.T.
With Elizabeth Johnson and James Stroheckeer
What would be more fun for you?
Pumping up on a machine - huffing and puffing, and soaking wet from sweating
OR sitting in your most comfortable chair - reading, writing, and drawing - remember what
fun that used to be?
"Although I am a leader in the field of fitness and body
awareness, getting in touch with my own body was a new experience. This
workbook, "Lighten Up", was one of the great tools which helped me
create the body I wanted, while making peace with my body.
At last, a program that addresses the inner aspect of
weight loss and fitness."
Suzy Prudden - Author,
META FITNESS: Your Thoughts Taking Shape
So
how is this different from all the other books and programs I have tried?
ANSWER: This book is the first to take the "heaviness" out of
the issues of weight and body image. It
contains 50 delightfully creative drawing and writing activities for
transforming negative attitudes and beliefs about one's body.
The fact is that outer change Not accompanied by inner change
will never last. These techniques are not only for changing your attitude
about food but for any substance abuse issues.
With their
exuberance and humor, the authors inspire self-acceptance and self-love by
discovering the natural "light" body within. Endorsed by fitness
experts, Suzy Prudden and Nancy Bonus, founder of the Bonus Plan for Non-Diet
Weight Control.
This experiential book focuses on learning to feel comfortable in your body
and nurturing the hungry child within. Not just by reading - You learn by
reading and doing fun drawing and writing exercises. No special talent is
required, just have fun!
This book uses Dr. Lucia Capacchione's unique combination of
Art Therapy and Voice
Dialog to get to the root of your problem...your core beliefs in your mind. The following is an EXAMPLE of
just one of the 50 drawing and writing exercises. Take it for a
"test-drive"... Try it for yourself
How many times have you heard "Eat Something -
You'll Feel Better!"???
Make a list of your favorite foods and beverages. Now,
using your non-dominate hand, write a word which describes how you feel
inside when you think of each particular food or drink. Review your list of
foods/drinks and feelings. Write down any observation you have.
Note: Dr. Capacchione is famous for her pioneer work writing
questions with your dominate hand and writing the answers in your non-dominate
hand (see The Power of Your Other Hand - A course in channeling the inner wisdom of the right brain).
Again write these questions with your dominate hand, then
switch hands and write the answers with your non-dominate hand. What is the
significance of food in your life? Is eating related to any particular emotions?
What are you drinking? Do you crave particular foods or beverages when you are
in certain moods? If so, what are they? If possible, observe this pattern when
it happens and try to write about it at the time (or as soon as possible).
BENEFITS: Here is an opportunity to become aware of your
attitudes, feelings, and habits regarding physical nourishment. It can help you
understand the deeper emotional significance that food has in your life beyond
physical nourishment.
NOTE: These exercises have been very helpful for individuals
with substance abuse problems. If you suffer with substance abuse of any kind
(drugs, cigarettes, alcohol, etc) modify the exercise and focus on the substance
in question rather than the food.
Order a copy, right now, your choice SWEAT, and
probably gain it back again, or FUN, and probably keep it off!

More information
This book works because Lucia's unique
form of Art Therapy, developed over her 25 years in the field - Gets Results! I know because
I lost 17 pounds in 2 weeks just dealing with my emotional baggage, I ate the
same, did my usual walks along the ocean, everyday, and I just - Lightened
Up! Again - 17 pounds in 2 weeks, for me!...
Richard Bingham, author of this
website
"The exercises
in this book are not only insightful, they are fun! I heartily recommend
it."
Nancy Bonus,
M.A.,
Founder, Bonus Plan for Non-Diet Weight Control
Radio Host: "The Psychology of Weight Control"
The book begins..."You are about to begin a wonderful journey. The goal
of this journey is a simple one--to discover the body that nature intended for
you. This body...is a joy to live in. It not only feels light... it looks
light and vibrant to the eye. And it radiates a glow of vitality and health.
Does this sound impossible to you? You are in for a big surprise. The good news
is that this body already lives within you right now."
Using simple drawing and writing exercises, that anyone can
do, you will transform limiting
attitudes and beliefs that shape your body image, learn to live
comfortably in your body, nurture and feed the hungry child within, and clear
the way for your perfect body to emerge.
The fact is that outer change Not accompanied by inner change
will never last. Like a rubber band
the body can only snap back to its old shape because it is molded by our
unconscious belief system and emotional patterns.
Lightening Up, Feeling at home in your body is a process
which can only happen from the inside out. This process includes all of you:
your feelings, thoughts, beliefs, and lifestyle.
In workshops we often ask if anyone is happy with their body and
physical appearance. It is very rare for anyone to give an unequivocal,
"yes." In fact, it is our experience that the very people who are held
up as "ideal" models of physical beauty are no happier with their
bodies than anyone else.
One thing becomes very clear: If we have low self esteem we will
not feel good about our bodies, regardless of how we appear to the world. The
reverse is true as well; not liking our body is a great excuse for not liking
ourselves. We can always find things about our bodies that do not "measure
up" to society's standards as we perceive them.
This raises the whole
issue of motivation. Why do we want to change? Is it to please others and gain
their approval? Is to "earn love"? Is it to feel powerful because we
look good and are able to attract and/or reject others? In this book we will
explore the question: "Who are you doing this for?" And we will show
you how to grow into the healthy and balanced attitude, " I am doing it for
me."
If you really want to lose those extra pounds once and for
all and to lose all that "heaviness" on the outside... then release
the heaviness you feel within yourself.
Remember, everything is a choice -
SWEAT, and probably gain it back again, or FUN, and probably keep it off!

LIFE! Lucia Capacchione is a masterful teacher and inspiring author, with the
